Understanding the Power of Privacy with IKEA

Art Direction, Filmmaking | Given Agency

For the second consecutive year, Given helped IKEA to get a little bit closer to understanding what people need from their home. In 2019, after months of research and trend forecasting, something caught our eye. We take Privacy for granted, some don’t seem to achieve it, others can’t ask for it. Many, don’t have the space to find it at home. We travelled the world to understand what makes Privacy so powerful.

Design and photography

With a visual tone set in 2018 for the Life at Home project, we needed to find a new direction to move the brand forward. We decided to commission an illustrator to create a series of scenes and textures to be carried through all media. Final deliverables included an interactive quiz site, social media assets, digital and print reports, and a series of toolkits for markets to personalise.

Filmmaking

A producer, DOP, photographer and myself travel to San Francisco, Amsterdam, Shanghai, Mumbai and London to capture the power of privacy.

We created 6 story-films that felt intimate, human and honest.

Given is everything – and more – an agency partner could possibly have been. From day one, they set out towards our shared ambition and did everything possible to take us there. Every asset and approach has been thoughtful, relevant and creative, and the quality has consistently been A+.
